POTSDAM – An altercation in Canton-Potsdam Hospital’s emergency room early Saturday resulted in a nurse’s wrist being broken and the arrest of a New Hampshire man on an assault charge.
Potsdam police say they were called to the emergency room shortly before 4 a.m. Saturday because two men there were being disorderly.
One man, found later, left before police arrived.
Another man, Patrick Walmsley, 17, of Bow, New Hampshire, had also attempted to flee, and in so doing, pushed a nurse who broke her wrist as she fell.
The second man, Lucas Goldie, 22, of Ogdensburg, was found on Cottage Street and returned to the emergency room. There he continued yelling obscenities at hospital staff, police said.
Walmsley was charged with second-degree assault and taken to the police department for processing. He was arraigned before Village Justice Pignone.
Goldie was given a ticket charging him with disorderly conduct and ordering his appearance in court Feb. 9
