CANTON – A county inmate from Ogdensburg has been arrested by sheriff’s deputies and charged with assaulting another inmate.
Deputies report that Michael J. Wells, 26, has been charged with second-degree assault, a Class D felony, after allegedly elbowing another inmate, injuring the man’s face and damaging teeth.
Wells was arraigned in Canton Village Court and ordered held without bail due to two previous felony convictions.
Wells has been held in the county lockup facing earlier charges of robbery and grand larceny.
