An email containing the "Uniform Traffic Ticket" virus has been re-released and has shown up in the email accounts of St. Lawrence County Department of Motor Vehicles customers, according to the county clerk.
"This virus was previously reported in July 2011 and again in August 2011," County Clerk Gavin Regan reported. "The email falsely appears to have been sent from the Department of Motor Vehicles and contains the subject line: UNIFORM TRAFFIC TICKET."
The hoax email asks the recipient to open an attached file that contains a virus. The virus can cause the customer’s PC to crash.
Customers should not open the email or forward it to DMV.
Instead, they should immediately delete the email.
