OGDENSBURG – St. Lawrence County plans to auction off on Saturday about 200 property parcels whose owners are in arrears in tax payments.
Registration for bidders begins at 9 a.m. at Lockwood Arena, West River Street.
Auctioneer Greg Walsh begins the proceedings at 10 a.m.
A booklet listing the properties is available for $12 at the county treasurer’s office in County Courthouse, Court Street, Canton. The booklet can be mailed for a total of $14.
Parcels that will be sold are also listed at the county’s web site, http://www.co.st-lawrence.ny.us/Departments/RealProperty/AuctionBook.
The treasurer’s office recommends that potential bidders review the auction terms and conditions carefully, as they have changed this year.
The former owners of the property have until 5 p.n. Friday, Oct. 3 to repurchase the property.
A successful bidder must pay a recording fee to the treasurer before the office will issue a deed.
The new owner is responsible for property taxes beginning with the January 2015 town and county tax bill.
