POTSDAM -- The C.O.R.C. Thrift Store, 8 Willow St., received a $2,000 grant from the Northern New York Community Foundation through the Youth Philanthropy Council.
The grant will enable the store to continue with the voucher system which provides good quality used clothing to people in crisis at no cost to the recipient. The store has been able to rehire staff to full working hours which facilitates the improved running of the store and enables the voucher system to continue unchanged, according to a news release.
“The Board of Directors and the management of the C.O.R.C. Store are most grateful to the Northern New York Community Foundation and the Youth Philanthropy Council for this support,” the release says.
The Youth Philanthropy Council is composed of members of the Potsdam High School Student Body. They accepted applications and interviewed candidates from not-for-profit organizations within our area and subsequently awarded grants.
The C.O.R.C. Thrift Store is open Tuesday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
