A mixed bag of weather is expected between now and the end of the Labor Day weekend in the St. Lawrence Valley.
Cooler and drier air is moving into St. Lawrence County and will stay through Friday, but more humid air returns Saturday and the rest of the Labor Day weekend, according to the National Weather Service.
A sunny day is forecast for Friday, but clouds return and there will be a slight chance of a shower on Saturday, and showers and thunderstorms are considered likely on Sunday.
Monday, Labor, will be partly sunny with a 30 percent chance of showers, according to the NWS.
It will be cool tonight, with lows in the mid to upper 40s.
Daytime high temperatures are expected to reach the mid 70s on Friday and to rise back into the upper 70s and lower 80s Saturday and Sunday, and are expected to remain above normal into the first part of next week.
The NWS forecast for the St. Lawrence Valley and northwestern Adirondacks:
• This Afternoon: Partly sunny, with a high near 69. Northwest wind around 9 mph.
• Tonight: Mostly cloudy, then gradually becoming clear, with a low around 47. Light northwest wind.
• Friday: Sunny, with a high near 73. Light and variable wind.
• Friday Night: Increasing clouds, with a low around 58. Calm wind.
• Saturday: Mostly cloudy, with a high near 82. Southwest wind 7 to 13 mph.
• Saturday Night: Showers likely, mainly after 2am. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 67. Southwest wind around 8 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible.
• Sunday: Showers likely, with thunderstorms also possible after noon. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 78. Southwest wind around 8 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%.
• Sunday Night: A 50 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 64. Southwest wind 3 to 5 mph.
• Labor Day: A 30 percent chance of showers. Partly sunny, with a high near 80. Southwest wind 3 to 5 mph.
