CANTON -- Congressional Democrat candidate Tedra Cobb of Canton raised nearly a quarter million dollars for her campaign in 2017.

Since entering the race on July 4, she has raised $214,296 with $162,697 cash on-hand, a “burn rate” of 24 percent, according to a news release from her campaign. The cash came from 850 donors, 77 percent of whom live in the 21st Congressional District.

Cobb and many other candidates, mostly Democrats, are running to unseat two-term Republican incumbent Elise Stefanik.

“By every measure, my campaign is strong and gaining momentum. I owe this to my supporters and to my volunteer leadership team who are organizing in all 12 counties across NY-21. I’m grateful for the generous financial support and volunteer hours that the residents of this district continue to provide to my campaign,” Cobb, a former county legislator, said in a prepared statement. “I am running so that Northern New Yorkers have representation in Washington from someone who, unlike Elise Stefanik, is rooted in this district, and is prepared to listen to and be accountable to her constituents. I pledge that as a Congresswoman, I will hold 12 public town halls per year, one in each county. In contrast to our current Representative, I’m not afraid to face my constituents, listen to their concerns, and explain my votes.

“I appreciate the confidence shown in me by the majority who voted for me among a crowded field in last Sunday’s straw poll in Glens Falls. Their support, along with the generous financial contributions of many individual donors, bolsters my belief that I am the candidate who can beat Elise Stefanik. I will work tirelessly to earn the nomination and, if I win this seat, to serve the people of NY-21.”
