WADDINGTON -- Colton and Waddington men were arrested Tuesday after allegedly fleeing state troopers on ATVs across private property and sidewalks.
Around 10:55 p.m., troopers say they responded to a report of two ATV’s riding on private property in the village of Waddington.
Assisted by the St. Lawrence County Sherriff's Department, patrols found them driving south on Main Street. Troopers activated their emergency lights in an attempt to stop the ATV's.
The riders failed to stop and attempted to evade patrols by driving across private property, sidewalks and roadways, in violation of several vehicle and traffic laws, troopers said.
Eventually, the ATV’s both stopped and the riders were identified as Austin B. Villnave, 23, of Waddington, and James P. Wolf II, 22, of Colton, police said.
They were charged with one count each of third-degree unlawfully fleeing a police officer. The two were processed and released with appearance tickets and various traffic tickets, all returnable to the Town of Waddington Court, troopers said.
