CANTON -- Coakley Ace Hardware is celebrating the 20th anniversary of “Ice Storm ’98” with an in-store “memory board.”
The storm, which knocked out power for many days throughout the North Country, was a time when devoted staff, North Country residents, law enforcement, fire departments, churches, area businesses, and local universities came together to help each other through devastation unseen before in St. Lawrence County.
During January, Coakley Hardware is inviting North Country friends and neighbors to come by the Outer West Main Street store to share a memory or a photo. Memories and photos can also be shared on their Facebook page at facebook.com/CoakleyAceHardware/.
From Jan. 8-14, Coakley’s will also offer 20 percent off select “storm ready” items such as ice melt, batteries, tube sand, and shovels along with discounts on select heaters, pellet stoves and generators.
During Ice Storm ’98, despite the lack of electricity, Coakley’s was open, cashing out customers with flashlights and calculators as well as making copies of credit cards to cash out after power and equipment was restored.
For more information about the memory board, stop by or call 315-386-8161.
