Clarkson and St. Lawrence receive praise on college ranking website

Yet another website has announced college rankings, citing Clarkson University in Potsdam and St. Lawrence University in Canton as placing well in categories such as volleyball, engineering, and “Highest Paid Grads in Philosophy and Religious Studies.”

The site www.collegefactual.com, a service that tries to match prospective students with colleges, says “these rankings highlight areas where each school performs better than average when compared to other schools on the list, which includes both research universities and liberal arts colleges. A number of outcomes-based factors were used to determine these rankings, including how well the institution retains and graduates students, the average loan debt per student, the boost in expected earnings, percentage of full-time teachers, and the average student loan default rate,” which are intended to draw people to their site.

Clarkson University placed third out of 360 in women's volleyball (division 3) and 10th out of 283 in “Top Ranked for Engineering,” as well as other rankings, which are at http://www.collegefactual.com/colleges/clarkson-university/rankings/badges/

St Lawrence University placed fourth out of 621 in “Highest Paid Grads in Philosophy and Religious Studies” and sixth out of 903 in “Highest Paid Grads in Psychology” and other rankings, which are at http://www.collegefactual.com/colleges/st-lawrence-university/rankings/badges/.

On their rankings pages listing sports, College Factual includes basketball, softball and volleyball rankings, but does not include the sport the schools are best known for, men’s and women’s hockey, the only sports in which they compete in NCAA Division I.
