CANTON -- TAUNY has announced that Chris Covert, Jr., Saranac Lake, has joined the TAUNY Board of Directors, after serving for five years on TAUNY's advisory board.

Covert is the broker, owner, and founder of Guide Boat Realty, LLC, which he opened in 2000 after working full time in the field for 15 years. During two terms as president of the Northern Adirondack Board of Realtors, he was instrumental in expanding the board's territory and oversaw the board's first implementation of a computerized multiple listing system.

"In addition to enthusiasm for TAUNY's mission, he brings extensive experience in non-profit governance and a deep commitment to community service," said TAUNY Board President Jackie Sauter,

TAUNY's Executive Director Jill Breit said, "Chris is well-known and well-respected in his hometown of Saranac Lake and beyond for the many ways he contributes to improving the quality of life for residents. We've loved working with Chris on projects over the years and are looking forward to working more closely with him now."

The TAUNY Center is located at 53 Main St. Canton. TAUNY, Traditional Arts in Upstate New York, is a non-profit organization dedicated to helping people understand and appreciate the folk traditions and local culture of everyday life in the North Country, present and past.
