CANTON -- Firefighters, police officers, civic organizations and community members honored lifetime Canton resident Emerson T. Forbes with a firefighter's funeral today.
Forbes was honored in 2011 for 70 years of service to Canton Fire and Rescue, having joined the department in 1941.
He died Saturday at St. Joseph's Funeral Home in Ogdensburg.
Forbes was a member of the Potsdam Elk's Club, Canton VFW and served as a New York State Fire Chief.
