CANTON -- Tedra Cobb of Canton, the Democratic Party’s candidate for Congress in New York’s 21st Congressional District, has been endorsed by New York U.S. Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand.

“I know this district well and I believe that Tedra is the right candidate to serve the North County and New York's 21st Congressional District," said Gillibrand in a statement released by Cobb’s campaign.

"From her work as a County Legislator to her advocacy for healthcare, Tedra has been a passionate voice who fights for the people in our communities. I am endorsing Tedra because she has a history of choosing problem solving over partisanship and will be the type of leader in Washington the North Country deserves."

“I am proud to stand side by side with Senator Gillibrand,” Cobb said today. “She was a fierce advocate for her portion of this district in the House, and she is a fierce champion for the state of New York in the Senate.”

“We share common goals like ensuring that healthcare is a right not a privilege, legislating more transparency in all levels of Government, and fighting back against the corporate and special interests who seek to upend our Democracy,” Cobb said. “I am deeply honored to have her support.”

“The Cobb campaign welcomes the Senator’s endorsement and believes that stronger representation of New York values in Washington will only serve to better the lives of people in the North Country,” the announcement from Cobb’s office said.

Cobb is challenging two-term incumbent Rep. Elise Stefanik, R-Willsboro, for the 21st Congressional District seat. Also challenging is Green Party candidate Lynn Kahn of Schroon Lake.
