CANTON – The Canton town board has decided to close 11 town accounts to streamline municipal accounting duties.
The accounts were savings and money market accounts and one empty sewer district account that was still open, Town Supervisor Mary Ann Ashley said.
About $9,600 is to be transferred from the closed auxiliary accounts into one of the town’s main coffers.
Ashley said the closures would allow the town’s accounting firm, Gray and Gray, to more easily reconcile municipal finances during its regular monthly maintenance.
