CANTON -- Village police today announced the arrest of Ellie Lee Murray, 35, of the Marsh Road in Norfolk, who was charged with petit larceny after she was identified by a photo posted on NorthCountryNow.com.
It is alleged that Murray stole a portable TV, valued at $140, on Dec. 8 from the Canton Kinney Drugs store.
On Dec. 21, police released a security camera photo of the suspect, asking for the public’s help in identifying her.
After two days, Murray contacted Canton Police and agreed to meet with officers upon her return to St. Lawrence County.
Murray was charged with petit larceny and issued an appearance ticket returnable in Canton Town Court on January 9.
Canton Police wanted to thank all the citizens that responded to the internet posting with tips on the identification of the suspect.
