CANTON -- The Rev. Michael H. Terrell of Northville has been named pastor of the Canton United Methodist Church by the Pastor-Parish Relations Committee.
Rev. Terrell’s first service with Canton UMC will be on Sunday, July 1 at 10 a.m.
According to Ted Linn, chairperson of the Pastor- Parish Relations Committee, the group “worked very diligently with Northern Flow District Superintendent, Rev. Rebekah Sweet, to assure a very good profile of the church and the community to lead to the best possible appointment.
"We believe that has lead to Michael Terrell’s appointment. We are very excited about his gifts and graces to lead us into our future,” Linn said.
Terrell’s first appointment as a Licensed Local Pastor was at Barnerville UMC, Howes Cave, followed by Northville First UMC, where he served for nine years and Wells UMC in addition to Northville for five years. During his time in Northville, Terrell was active various youth programs.
“I’m excited to be a part of the ministry team at Canton UMC. I do have a lot of energy and I make it a mission to try new and exciting ways to worship and share those great stories, of course, with the Holy Spirit guiding me every step of the way” said Terrell. “If you don’t have a spiritual home in the community, or if you feel you are imperfect, then you will fit right in to our congregation at Canton UMC.”
Terrell, 41, is a native of Schoharie County, who now lives in Canton with his wife, Jennifer, and their two children, Willow who is three and a half years old, and Noah who is one year old. He was active with The Glove Theatre and with Sacandaga Musical Theatre.
