CANTON — At its regularly scheduled meeting Dec. 7, the Canton Central School District Board of Education approved Superintendent William Gregory’s request for retirement.
The change will go into effect July 31, 2018, following sixteen years of service with the District.
Gregory was appointed principal of Canton High School in August 2002 and subsequently assumed duties as superintendent in January 2008.
The search for selecting Gregory’s successor will be undertaken by the Board of Education in consultation with St. Lawrence-Lewis BOCES District Superintendent Thomas Burns
The process will begin with surveys of faculty and staff members and school district residents.
Surveys will be conducted within the next several weeks and will be used to help inform the Board’s decision-making process in identifying and selecting the school’s next superintendent.
