CANTON -- Billy's Deli, 109 Main St., has closed after seven months in operation.
Business had been going well but owner Con Mahoney. who also owns Billy's Deli in Potsdam and Mahoney's Auto Mall across from Walmart on Rt. 11 in Potsdam, says he failed to anticipate the effect that the work on Main Street this summer would have on business, along with the lack of parking in front of the shop while the road is torn up.
The Canton shop opened in December 2011. The Potsdam shop, on Main Street, opened in April 2011, and remains open.
Mahoney owned a sub shop called Billy's Deli on Main Street in Canton in 1970, roughly where Jreck's Subs is now, but the building was destroyed by fire in 1974.
