CANTON – The state police Canton Bureau of Investigation has been named BCI Unit of the Year and several state troopers from St. Lawrence County have been honored.
Trooper Jason West who is stationed in Gouverneur was named Zone 2 Trooper of the Year.
Local investigators who were honored at a recent ceremony included Timothy J. Peets, Jay W. Taylor, Rachelle L. Foster, Christopher M. Nye, Mark D. Shellenberger, DeWayne R. Baillargeon, Jeremy P. Causo, Patrick E. Loveland.
Several state troopers retirees from St. Lawrence County were also honored.
They included Zone Sgt. Scott Rogers, Trooper James LaVelle, and Trooper Bridget LaVigne who were last stationed in Canton as well as Daniel Prinz who was in the Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Unit (CVEU) and stationed in Ogdensburg, and Linda McLaughlin, who was a Communications Specialist in Canton.
The annual New York State Police Troop B Awards and Retirement Ceremony was held in Malone on Oct. 22.
State Police Superintendent Joseph A. DAmico and Major Richard C. Smith Jr., Troop B Commander, presented plaques and letters acknowledging the dedicated performance of duty to sworn members and civilian staff.
