CANTON -- Canton Central School Board of Education members recently approved resignations and appointments of several employees.
The school board approved the resignations of:
• Gregory River, from the positions of school bus driver, effective May 29
• Shailindar Singh, from the position of dean of students, effective June 30
• Brittani Bessette, from the position of elementary teacher, effective Aug. 31.
Appointments approved by the Canton Central BoE were:
• Marjorie Tupper, keyboard specialist, effective retroactive to May 17 at $12.75 per hour
• Joshua Briggs, long-term substitute for math teacher Margaret Clemens, effective retroactively to May 21 through June 21 at a rate of $105 per day (to be paid $217 per day retroactive to the first ten consecutive days, which does not include days when school is not in session)
• Emma Carver, elementary teacher, conditional probationary tenure track appointment, effective Aug. 30 through Aug. 29, 2022, unless extended in accordance with the law, at a salary of $51,112. Upon receipt of certification from the New York State Education Department, this appointment will no longer be conditional
• Deana Renwick, secondary science teacher, conditional probationary tenure track appointment, effective Aug. 30 through Aug. 29, 2022, unless extended in accordance with the law, at a salary of $53,584. Upon receipt of certification from the New York State Education Department, this appointment will no longer be conditional
• Kelly Smith, elementary teacher, probationary tenure track appointment, effective Aug. 30 through Aug. 29, 2022, unless extended in accordance with the law, at a salary of $44,817
• Stephen Smithers II, technology teacher, probationary tenure track appointment, effective Aug. 30 through Aug. 29, 2021, unless extended in accordance with the law, at a salary of $55,641.
