CANTON – Canton resident Renice Bisnett was honored recently at a joint meeting of the town and village boards for her volunteer work with the town and village historian’s office.

Bisnett was presented with commemorative miniature building models of historical structures by Linda Casserly, Canton historian.

Casserly said that Bisnett, now in her 70s, walked through 14 and a half cemeteries to gather the names of all the local World War II veterans for the monument and had did extensive work on the annual historical calendar project.

Bisnett has extensive local historical knowledge and contacts, Casserly said.

“So what she brings to us is information I would never have known,” Casserly said.

“She is a treasurer, to me, to us,” said Casserly of Bisnett.

“She’s trying to say I’m old and doesn’t know quite how to get around it,” quipped Bisnett.
