CANTON -- Around 11:25 a.m. Tuesday, a report of a burning smell emanating from a girls’ bathroom prompted a brief evacuation of Canton High School students to the Middle School lobby.
Canton Fire and Rescue responded to the scene and determined it was safe.
Canton Central Superintendent William Gregory said firefighters were not able to locate anything burning. Students were evacuated as a precautionary measure, he said.
Students were returned to classes at 11:44 a.m.
“With students texting about an evacuation we just wanted to get a statement out there,” Gregory said.
