CANTON -- The Canton Community Fund (CCF) has awarded grants to two organizations that are enhancing the quality of life in the Town and Village of Canton in two very different ways, said a CCF press release.
One grant, for $2,000, was awarded to Grasse River Heritage toward repair of the Coakley Island trail, boardwalk and interpretive signage that were heavily damaged by an ice jam last winter.
The other, for $500, will support start-up costs for the newly-forming Canton Chess Club; the grant will be administered by the Canton Free Library, host and sponsor of the club.
The CCF encourages representatives of non-profit groups and organizations serving the Town and Village of Canton to apply for grants to further their work.
Guidelines, as well as tips for making a gift and other information about the CCF, can be found at www.cantoncommunityfund.org.
The Fund is a subsidiary organization of the Northern New York Community Foundation, which manages its finances.
