Canton Community Fund awards $2,000 grant to Canton Day Care Center

CANTON -- The Canton Community Fund (CCF) has awarded a $2,000 grant to the Canton Day Care Center (CDCC) for furnishings in support of its ongoing expansion of school-age space at United Helpers' Maplewood facility.

The expansion will permit the CDCC to serve more Canton-area children, and also hire more employees.

The CCF approved the award at its Nov. 28 meeting. The fund had previously awarded a grant to the CDCC toward architects' fees for the expansion project.

The CCF strongly encourages representatives of non-profit groups and organizations serving the Town and Village of Canton to apply for grants to further their projects that have a community-wide benefit.

Recent grant recipients include the Church & Community Program, for a freezer for its food bank; the Complete Streets Project, for a bicycle repair station in the Village Park; and the Canton Park & Fountain Fund Committee, for piping and other repairs to the village fountain.

There are guidelines and tips for making a gift and other information about the CCF at www.cantoncommunityfund.org.

The fund is a subsidiary of the Northern New York Community Foundation, which manages its finances.
