CANTON – The First Presbyterian Church on the Park is offering a “Children’s Art Academy,” at the church on Wednesdays and Saturdays throughout the months of January, February and March, for the purposes of providing children the opportunity and access to a variety of artistic pursuits and supporting local artists in their craft.

Currently there are nine artists offering 13 different age-appropriate classes for kids 3 to 18 years old.

Classes include: acting, making mud & mosaics, valentine’s day craft, sun catchers, wood burning, musical theater, watercolor, movement, linocuts, fine arts, performance, Japanese marbling paper and winter fun crafts.

Some classes will meet only twice, others weekly over the span of months.

The Children’s Art Academy is open to all children in the North Country simply for the artistic enrichment of kids in our community; there is absolutely no religious content to any of the classes.

It is the church’s hope to provide this opportunity to any child who would wish it; scholarship money is available.

Brochures and registrations forms are being distributed within the community, and can be viewed and downloaded from the church website (www.ChurchOnThePark.org) and are available in the church foyer or by contacting the church office at 386-2570 (Office@ChurchOnThePark.org).

Contact Art Academy director Edith Frazer with any questions, or Rev. Mike Catanzaro for information about scholarship opportunities. Both may be reached through the church office.
