CANTON -- State police said a suspect in the November ATM theft at St. Lawrence University faces additional charges related to a second ATM crime.
Troopers said Joseph C. Lugo, 24, of DeKalb, who eluded law enforcement for more than two months, is being held at the Vermilion County Parish Jail in Abbeville, La.
Canton police said Lugo was apprehended Monday afternoon on charges stemming from the Canton ATM theft, but Troopers said Lugo was also charged on arrest warrants issued by the Town of North Elba Court for an incident in Lake Placid.
Troopers said Lugo is facing felony charges of second-degree grand larceny and second-degree criminal mischief.
Troopers said Lugo and Brandon D. Crandall, 21, of Canton, attempted to cut open an ATM located at the NBT Bank in Lake Placid.
Crandall had previously been arrested and charged for his involvement in both crimes and his case is pending in court.
Lugo is currently awaiting an extradition hearing scheduled Feb. 7.
