CANTON – The Buccaneer Lounge has reopened at the Cascade Motel, 4 West Main St.
The bar operated from 1964 to 2007, but took an eight-year hiatus. Manager Travis Pierce said the lounge is open to all, but he hopes to provide a different atmosphere from Canton’s other watering holes.
“It’s a cocktail lounge. We’re hoping to offer a nice alternative to the college bars,” he said. “It has a more vintage feel and it’s the only bar in town that’s located on the river.”
Pierce said the Buccaneer is a bit quieter and lower key than other bars in the area and he is hopeful it can cater to professionals.
The Buccaneer is open 4 p.m. to midnight Tuesday to Friday and offers daily drink and dinner specials. The lounge also hosts occasional musical guests.
Food options are also available and with a menu that includes chicken wings, burgers and grilled chicken among its offerings.
“We have a small menu that ranges from pub-grub to full meals,” he said.
Pierce is currently the only employee at the bar, aside from the motel employees, but said he expects additional help will be hired down the road, as the Buccaneer will likely expand hours to include Saturdays.
Pierce says the lounge may also be available for small private parties.
