BRASHER FALLS -- A Brasher Falls man was charged with a felony for grand larceny stemming from an incident first reported to state police April 23.
Justin M. French, 28, was charged with fourth-degree grand larceny: firearm/rifle/shotgun at 1:28 p.m. on County Route 53.
The charge stems from French borrowing a shotgun from a friend and then refusing to return it in the Town of Norfolk
About an hour later at the state police station, 29 Stearns St., Massena, he was charged with multiple counts of drug possession.
French was charged with two counts of seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and four counts of a controlled substance in a non-original container.
He was issued appearance tickets on the drug charges and ordered held on the grand larceny charge, troopers said.
While French was at the state police station in Massena,police say they found drugs in his shoes and charged him with an additional count of seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance.
He was arraigned in the Town of Massena Court before Town Justice Sharlow.
French was released to the supervision of probation and is to appear in the Town of Norfolk Court on June 22.
