MADRID -- State police have deemed a bomb threat made today at Madrid-Waddington Central School not credible and evening events at the school will resume as scheduled, according to Superintendent of Schools Lynn Roy.
Although there haven’t been any arrests, police say the investigation is ongoing.
“Charges are pending the completed investigation,” said state police Sgt. Randy Bush, who is stationed in Massena. He added that investigators don’t have any suspects yet.
“The district has every intent of prosecuting to the fullest extent of the law,” Roy said.
State police received a call at 12:59 p.m. today that a bomb threat was written on a bathroom wall. Roy declined to say the exact location in the building, citing the ongoing investigation.
She said the school was evacuated in about four minutes and police and rescue personnel were on the scene within minutes of the call. Students were then sent home early.
“I was very pleased and very confident in the way our students performed today, as well as parents for cooperating,” Roy said. “I was to thank everyone, including law enforcement for their speedy response.”
