The lovely weather in the North Country today will not abandon us for the weekend, though it will turn a little warmer, according to the National Weather Service.

High pressure centered across the eastern Great Lakes is moving slowly eastward, maintaining mostly sunny conditions to the North Country this weekend.

Temperatures and humidity will gradually increase through the weekend, climbing from a high in the low 80s today into the mid to upper 80s for the weekend. Rain is not expected until a cold front arrives Sunday night into Monday.

Tonight: Clear, with a low around 54. Calm wind.

Saturday: Sunny, with a high near 85. Calm wind becoming west between 5 and 8 mph.

Saturday Night: Clear, with a low around 60. West wind around 5 mph becoming calm.

Sunday: A slight chance of showers and thunderstorms after 2 p.m. Mostly sunny, with a high around 86. West wind between 6 and 14 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

Sunday Night: A chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly after 8 p.m. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 68 in northern and central St. Lawrence County, and about five degrees cooler toward Star Lake and Cranberry Lake. Chance of precipitation is 30%. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

Monday: A chance of showers and thunderstorms. Partly sunny, with a high near 85. Chance of precipitation is 40%.
