POTSDAM -- Accused murderer Oral "Nick" Hillary, 41, was charged with violating an order of protection Monday after turning himself in to Potsdam police.
Hillary violated an order of protection Sept. 18 by going to the SeaComm Federal Credit Union, 6 Sisson St., which is the workplace of a protected party, officers said.
A former assistant Clarkson soccer coach, he is accused of killing middle school student Garrett Phillips of Potsdam on Oct. 24, 2011 at Phillips’ Market Street residence that he shared with his mother. Hillary is alleged to have had a relationship with Phillips’ mother Tandy Cyrus.
He was charged with second-degree criminal contempt at 8:30 p.m. and remanded to St. Lawrence County Correctional Facility on $2,500 bail or $5,000 bond.
He later posted bail, officers said.
