FT. COVINGTON -- A Sunday morning fire in Fort Covington has claimed the life of a 93-year-old woman.
Doris J. Barlow left the house Sunday morning seeking treatment for burns before the arrival of the first responders and was driven to the firehouse.
Barlow was transported to Alice Hyde Medical Center and subsequently airlifted to Fletcher Allen Health Care in Burlington, Vermont, where she succumbed to her injuries.
The Fort Covington Fire Department responded to 2358 Chateaugay Street for the structure fire shortly after 9 a.m. Sunday
New York State Police in Malone, New York State Office of Fire Prevention and Control and Franklin County fire investigators are continuing their investigation into the blaze.
