3 to 7 inches of snow predicted for St. Lawrence County by Thursday morning

The National Weather Service predicts a total of 3 to 7 inches of snow to fall across St. Lawrence County and elsewhere in the North Country by Thursday morning.

NWS predicts 1 to 3 inches by Tuesday with gusty winds in some areas a little over 20 mph. Temperatures Monday night are predicted to hit lows in the low 20s.

Tuesday is forecast to bring less than a half inch of snow with temperatures in the high 30s. At night, meteorologists predict less than an inch of snow with lows in the low 30s.

NWS says there will be 2 to 4 more inches of snow Wednesday night with highs around freezing, and snow showers likely at night with lows in the mid-teens.

The detailed forecast for St. Lawrence County:

Monday afternoon - Cloudy, with a high near 27. East wind around 7 mph.

Monday night - A chance of light snow before 10pm, then snow, mainly after 10pm. Low around 22. Breezy, with a southeast wind 9 to 14 mph increasing to 16 to 21 mph after midnight. Winds could gust as high as 36 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New snow accumulation of 1 to 2 inches possible.

Tuesday - Snow likely before noon, then a chance of rain and snow between noon and 1pm, then a chance of rain after 1pm. Cloudy, with a high near 39. South wind 13 to 18 mph decreasing to 6 to 11 mph in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 30 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.

Tuesday night - A chance of rain before 9pm, then rain and snow likely between 9pm and 2am, then snow likely after 2am. Cloudy, with a low around 31. Southeast wind 5 to 8 mph becoming west after midnight. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New snow accumulation of less than one inch possible.

Wednesday - Snow. High near 32. Northwest wind 8 to 11 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New snow accumulation of 2 to 4 inches possible.

Wednesday night - Snow showers likely. Cloudy, with a low around 16. Northwest wind around 11 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%.

Thursday - A 50 percent chance of snow showers. Cloudy, with a high near 21. Northwest wind around 11 mph.

Thursday night - Mostly cloudy, with a low around -3. Northwest wind 8 to 10 mph.

Friday - Partly sunny and cold, with a high near 6. West wind around 8 mph.

Friday night - Partly cloudy, with a low around -8. Northwest wind 3 to 6 mph.

Saturday - Mostly sunny and cold, with a high near 10. Calm wind becoming northwest around 5 mph in the afternoon.

Saturday night - Mostly cloudy, with a low around -4. East wind 3 to 5 mph.
