NORWOOD -- The Kids’ Bass Fishing Tournament held Saturday, July 24 by the Norwood American Legion on Norwood Lake drew 67 kids, according to Bob Henninger, Norwood Legion 1st Vice Commander.
Tanner Uppston won the trophy for largest bass at 2.10 lbs. Kirsten Barkley took first place with the highest total weight of 5.6 lbs. with the five weigh-ins permitted to each participant. Uppston’s total was good for second place with 5.3 lbs. Brandon Palmer’s 4.14 lbs. and Jonathan Morgan’s 4.10 lbs. were good for third and fourth place. Each bass was gently released to be lured again.
The grand prize of more than a dozen items of camping and fishing equipment was won by 10-year-old Owen Uppston.
After the noon weigh-in, a buffet luncheon was enjoyed by all, including parents. Trophies were awarded to the winners and all participants enjoyed prizes such as fishing poles, tackle boxes, bass pillows, minnow buckets, battery-operated lanterns, tents, camping equipment and much more.
Clark-Robinson Post #68 American Legion thanks all the generous sponsors from Norwood, Potsdam, Heuvelton, Canton, Canastota, Saratoga Springs and Springfield, Mich., who contributed prizes to the tournament.
