Three Clarkson student-athletes gain Liberty League weekly honors

It was a mixed bag as far as results go, but one student-athlete from each of the three Clarkson University spring athletic offerings picked up Liberty League Weekly honors on Monday for their performances over the past seven days.

For the Clarkson University Baseball team, David Kinney (Mexico, NY) was chosen as the Liberty League Co-Performer of the Week. Over the course of four games, Kinney dominated both at the plate and on the mound, hitting .412 while slugging 1.000, thanks to four doubles and a pair of home runs. He also drove in five runs and scored five times as Clarkson went 3-1. In one of those victories, Kinney came in to close out a contest, gaining the five final outs without allowing a baserunner.

In his first career start, Pat Briggs (Baldwinsville, NY) of the Clarkson University Men's Lacrosse team posted six saves and held Vassar College to just four goals in 60 minutes as the Golden Knights gained a conference victory, earning the sophomore goalkeeper Liberty League Co-Defender of the Week honors. Briggs had a 3.70 goals against average and a .600 save percentage in two contests last week.

Freshman Marissa Mastronardi (Cortland, NY) scored nine points in three games to take Liberty League Co-Rookie of the Week honors for the Clarkson University Women's Lacrosse team. Against Oswego State, she had a goal and three assists, while in a pair of Liberty League contests over the weekend, she combined for three goals, two assists, and three groundballs.
