Marcy, NY – Karyss Terrance (Hogansburg, NY) and Kristina DiNardo (Ottawa, ON) both found the back of the net but the Roos could not overcome a hat trick from Kristina Strang falling 5-2 to SUNY Polytechnic Institute on Wednesday evening.
The hosts got on the board first in the 34th minute when Kristina Strang scored her 34th career goal to become SUNY Poly's all-time leading scorer. The Wildcats took a 1-0 lead into intermission.
The Roos responded early on in the second half as Terrance netted her team-leading eighth goal of the season. The junior converted from an extremely difficult angle as she curved a shot in off a corner kick.
Back-to-back scores from Strang in the 59th and 73rd minutes broke open a 3-1 Wildcat lead. SUNY Poly added an insurance marker in the 76th minute when Alexis Forgit found McKenna Hungerford.
SUNY Canton got one back five minutes later as DiNardo netted her fifth goal of the season on her lone shot of the game. SUNY Poly added a late goal as Forgit was on the scoring end this time for the 5-2 final.
Liz Lynch (North Lawrence, NY) made five saves in goal for the Roos, while Angela Bartlett turned aside five Roo shots in the win for the Wildcats.
The women's soccer team returns to action on Saturday when it hosts Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences beginning at 2:00 p.m.
