Ten Top-10 finishes highlight Rochester Invitational for Saints men's track and field

In the first outdoor meet of the season, the St. Lawrence men's track and field team finished tied for fifth out of 25 teams at the Rochester Invitational, tallying 57 points. The Saints posted 10 top-10 finishes and had a pair of relays run to fourth-place finishes to highlight the day.

Joshua Martell was the Saints top finisher with a second-place finish in the javelin behind a throw of 46.64 meters, while Brian Kane garnered a pair of top-10 finishes in the field. He grabbed fifth in the high jump, clearing 1.85 meters, and sixth in the triple jump with a leap of 12.44 meters.

Scott Smolensky (15:20.25), Thomas Caufield (15:24.97) and Trevor Bibb (15:26.81) finished four, five and six in the 5000 for the Saints to combine for 12 points. Other individuals to earn points for the St. Lawrence included Karim Creary, who was fifth in the 100-meter dash with a time of 11.25; Daniel Viscardi, another fifth-place finisher in the 400-meter hurdles (58.08) and Joseph Smith who was seventh in the 800 (1:57.90).

Two relay teams grabbed fourth-place finishes for the Saints on Sunday in both the 4x400 and 4x800. Bryan Geiger, Sven Gustafson, Michael Concannon and William Manning combined for a time of 3:29.08 in the 4x400, while Evan Garvey, Corey Hahnl, Joseph Smith and Dennis Korir finished the 4x800 in 8:21.94.
