SUNY Canton volleyball closes out perfect weekend in straight sets over Wildcats

CANTON -- The SUNY Canton women's volleyball team finished off a perfect weekend in their own tournament defeating visiting SUNY Institute of Technology, 3-0 (25-18, 25-15, 25-19) on Saturday morning in the Roos House.

SUNY Canton continued to overpower their opponents posting 37 kills including an impressive .291 hitting percentage. Meanwhile, the Wildcats were able to muster just 16 kills and hit .056.

Caitlin Grimshaw (Adams, NY) had another strong offensive performance killing a match-high nine balls, while Morgan Bills (Walworth, NY) and Jessica Reynolds (Oakville, ON) each posted seven kills. Reynolds also added a match-best five service aces to go with her five digs, while Mackenzie Mynter (Churchville, NY) tallied 19 assists and seven digs.

Kelsy Cornish (Honeoye, NY) floored five balls in addition to her seven digs, while Kiana Archer (Plattsburgh, NY) dished out seven assists in her one set of action. Robyn Carroll (Bowmanville, ON) dug up a match-high 11 balls.

The women's volleyball team is back in action next weekend at the Endicott College Tournament on Friday and Saturday. The Roos will face stiff competition in New York University, who was receiving votes in the preseason American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) poll. The team will also square off on Saturday against Roger Williams University, who is ranked first in the New England region.
