POTSDAM, N.Y.—The State University of New York Athletic Conference has named SUNY Potsdam women’s lacrosse players Carly Richards (Niskayuna, N.Y./Niskayuna) and Kathleen Frear (Scotia, N.Y./Scotia-Glenville) to its All-Conference second team.
Richards, a junior, led the Bears in scoring for the second straight season with 42 goals and 21 assists for 63 points, while starting all 16 games. The effort put her at the top of Potsdam’s all-time scoring list with 134 goals and 60 assists for 194 points in 45 career games. She also led the team with 42 groundballs and her average of 2.62 groundballs-per-game was tops in the SUNYAC.
Frear also started all 16 games for the Bears in 2011. The senior midfielder was a key part of Potsdam’s defense, finishing second on the team in caused turnovers with 13. She also scored five goals and assisted on another for six points. In her three seasons with the Bears, Frear started 44 of the 46 games she played and scored seven goals and recorded an assist for eight points. She totaled 79 groundballs, 39 draw controls, and 25 caused turnovers in her career.
Potsdam finished the year with a 5-11 record, including a 1-7 mark in the SUNYAC.
