SUNY Potsdam's Lewis named Player of the Week in ECAC West

Potsdam, N.Y.—The Eastern College Athletic Conference has named SUNY Potsdam hockey player Annmarie Lewis (Newmarket, Ontario/Aurora Panthers) the ECAC West Player of the Week for the week ending December 12.

Lewis scored three goals and recorded three assists for a six-point week to help Potsdam to a 2-1 record. The junior’s efforts led the Bears in snapping a seven-game skid with a weekend sweep over St. Michael’s. Lewis started her run with a power-play goal against second-ranked Plattsburgh on Dec. 7. She continued with another power-play goal and an assist against the Purple Knights on Dec. 10, and finished with a goal and two helpers on Dec. 11. Lewis (6 goals 7 assists 13 points) leads Potsdam in goals, assists, points and power-play goals. The Bears’ assistant captain is tied four fourth in the nation with four power-play goals.

The SUNY Potsdam women’s hockey team (3-7) travels to Rutland, Vt., for the Rutland Herald Invitational hosted by Castleton on Jan. 7-8. The Bears face Plymouth State on Friday at 4 p.m. On Saturday, Potsdam will face either the host Spartans or Buffalo State in the 1 p.m. consolation game or the 4 p.m. championship.
