GENESEO, N.Y.--- With a big second half, the SUNY Geneseo Knights (4-4, 1-2 SUNYAC) topped the SUNY Potsdam men's basketball team (5-4, 2-1 SUNYAC) 80-65 and ended its four-game winning streak on Friday night. Senior guard Nosa Onabor (Brooklyn, N.Y./Northside Charter) led the Bears with 16 points and five rebounds.

With the Knights packing the paint and playing great perimeter defense, the Bears struggled to get into a rhythm in the first half of the opening 20 minutes. A 3-pointer from Onabor at the 11:44 mark got the Bears offense rolling. Minutes later, Potsdam went on a 12-2 run. Junior guard Jayquan Thomas (Hollis, N.Y./Richmond Hill) gave the Bears the lead after driving past his defender for a left-handed layup during the run. Two plays later, junior center Kristoff Saunders (Queens, N.Y./Queens High School of Teaching) pump faked around two defenders in the paint and finished a high-arching layup with the foul. The bucket gave Potsdam a 28-23 lead with 4:31 left in the half. The Knights retook the lead after a bounce pass from Terrence Rogers to Michael Gannon for the basket inside and the foul. In the final two minutes, each team struggled to score, as the Knights went into the second half with a 31-29 advantage.

The Knights successfully attacked the paint in the beginning of the half, while the Bears were unlucky from outside. The Knights took a 41-35 lead at the 14:57 mark after Zack Panebianco hit a runner off the glass. Geneseo took the first double-digit lead of the night, 48-38 after two free throws from Gannon. Attacking the paint continued to be beneficial for the Knights, as they eventually built up a 16-point lead on free throws with 10:08 remaining. Junior guard Danny Delsol-Lowry (Queens, N.Y./Queens High School of Teaching) ended the dry spell for the Bears by attacking his defender inside for the layup and the foul. Delsol-Lowry's steal and slam, followed by a layup, brought Potsdam within 11 at 62-51 with 6:52 on the clock. The two teams exchanged baskets shortly after. In the midst of the exchange, Panebianco drove to the basket and finished a windmill layup, which put Geneseo up 19. The Bears continued to battle and get to the free-throw line in the closing minutes, but time wasn't in their favor as Geneseo secured the 80-65 win.

Both Delsol-Lowry and Thomas finished with 14 points on the night.

Gannon posted 19 points, 14 rebounds and two blocks to lead the Knights. Terrance Nichols and Alex Merhige finished with 12 and 10 points respectively, while Panebianco scored 14 off the bench.

The Bears are back in action tomorrow afternoon as they travel to Brockport for a 2 p.m. battle with the Golden Eagles.
