Buena Vista, VA – Wilson Matos went 4-for-5 and drove in five runs but host Southern Virginia University earned an 18-8 win v. the SUNY Canton baseball team on Saturday.
The Roos (0-5) scored three runs each in the second and fourth innings but a seven run third frame helped lift the Knights (8-7) to the victory.
Travis Schindler, Francesco Palumbo and Brian Santana scored two runs each and Schindler and Brett Hoberman drove in a run each for the Roos.
Brandon Bautista took the loss giving up 10 earned runs with four strike outs and three walks in three innings. Seth Burris earned the win surrendering three earned runs with six strike outs and three walks in seven innings.
Caleb Layden and RyanMorin posted thre hits each and combined to drive in five runs for the Knights.
The men's lacrosse team is back in action on Tuesday when it hosts Wells College at 1 p.m.
