Caroline Dalton scored 15 of her team-leading 21 points in the first half as the St. Lawrence University Women's Basketball team opened the game shooting 71 percent from the floor in the first 20 minutes of an 88-66 win over Bard College Friday in a Liberty League contest in the Stevenson Athletic Center in Annandale-on-Hudson, NY.
The Saints (13-4 overall, 6-2 Liberty League) scored a season-high 88 points and had a season-best 33 points in the first quarter. The 88 points is the most scored in a Liberty League game for the Saints since scoring 93 in a win over Vassar Feb. 4, 2011.
St. Lawrence missed just four shots in the first quarter and jumped out to an early lead with a 33-12 lead.
Bard (5-14, 0-10) closed the gap winning the second quarter 23-19 but could not get to within double digits for the remainder of the game.
Dalton led the team with 21 points while Cara Waterson added 18 and Lauren Quattrocchi added 16 points, five assists and four rebounds for the Saints. The trio shot an amazing 77 percent for the game connecting on 24-of-31 shots combined including 7-for-9 from 3-point range.
The Saints as a team finished with 65% shooting from the field (39-for-60).
St. Lawrence will face Vassar Saturday at 2 pm to wrap up a four-game stretch of road games.
