Williamstown, MA - For the second time in two weeks, sophomore Devin Sorell surpassed 30 points in a game, scoring 32 for the Clarkson Women's Basketball team on Saturday afternoon, but her effort wasn't enough as the Golden Knights fell to Williams College 81-59.

The Golden Knights dropped to 5-2 on the season, but will get close to a month to recover as the team is off until the opening weekend of 2016 when the team starts its Liberty League slate. The Ephs improved to 6-0 on the campaign.

Clarkson fell behind by eight points in the first 73 seconds as Williams converted early and often, but the Knights wouldn't be beaten so early and climbed back into the contest by the end of the quarter with a layup at the 1:20 mark from Devin Sorell, making the score 15-13. A Sorell 3-pointer brought Clarkson to within one at the 7:42 mark in the second quarter and the Knights tied the game at 20-20 on a Kati Gotch lay in with 5:58 to go. Williams ended the quarter with a 13-4 run and pushed its lead to nine at the half.

At the start of the third quarter, Clarkson was behind by double digits, but two free throws from Stephanie Grobe brought the Knights back within five (45-40) with 3:16 to go. That was as close as the Knights would get since Williams ended the quarter with a 10-2 run, and kept the Knights at bay for the remainder of the contest.

Sorell finished with a game-high 32 points, shooting 9-for-19 from the floor with seven 3-pointers. Her seven makes from beyond the arc tied a single-game record for Clarkson, with the two previous occurances both coming in 2015, including seven from Sorell on November 21st. Stephanie Grobe concluded the contest with 12 points and Alyssia Marsal added eight points and five rebounds. Ashley Loggins also contributed 10 rebounds and four steals. For Williams, Devon Cavaney scored 29 points, shooting 10-for-16 from the field, while Amanni Fernandez had an impressive all-around game with 20 points, 11 assists and three steals. Lauren McCall also had 10 points and five boards.
