CANTON – Six different players scored as the SUNY Canton women's soccer team led from start to finish defeating visiting Paul Smith's College, 6-1, on Saturday afternoon in Canton.

Senior captain Tressa Goolden (Canton, NY) got the scoring started just 54 seconds in off a pass from Katie Lamica (Malone, NY) to make it 1-0 early. Early on in the 10th minute Kaleigh Foran (Fort Ann, NY) fed Karyss Terrance (Hogansburg, NY) on the left wing who rifled a shot just inside the left post from a tough angle to give the Roos a two goal lead.

Foran would prove to be the catalyst once again nine minutes later when she found junior Fran Trombley (Dekalb Junction, NY) wide open in the middle of the box 15 yards out. Trombley calmly beat Bobcat keeper Asenath Brooks into the left corner as the hosts took a commanding 3-0 lead into intermission.

After setting up two of the three first half goals, Foran was on the receiving end early in the second stanza as Trombley hit the freshman midfielder for her first collegiate score. Six minutes later Terrance blasted a shot on net and the rebound deflected right to the feet of Brittany Pierce (Madrid, NY) who put home her first of the season extending the lead to 5-0.

Paul Smith's College got on the board in the 64th minute when Natalie Palko delivered a pass to Nicole Landry for her first goal of 2014. The Roos would respond 14 minutes later when Foran tallied her third assist of the contest finding Kristina DiNardo (Ottawa, ON) in the box. DiNardo struck a shot into the upper 90 just inside the right post for the eventual 6-1 final.

Six different Roos scored in the contest paced by a goal and three assists from Foran. Liz Lynch (North Lawrence, NY) made her first collegiate start in net stopping five shots. Brooks turned aside 13 shots in the loss for the Bobcats.

The Roos return to the pitch Sunday when they host Vermont Technical College at 1:00 p.m.
