Potsdam, NY - The final match of the Golden Knights Invitational was the Clarkson University Volleyball team's only action on Saturday afternoon, but four seniors made the most of their time on the floor in a dominating victory over Brockport, claiming a three-set win 25-20, 25-19, 25-6 at Alumni Gymnasium.

The Golden Knights improved to 22-3 overall on the season and finished with a 2-1 record on the weekend. Springfield College won the tournament with three victories, while Elmira went 1-2 and Brockport finished 0-3.

The first two sets on Saturday were fairly close, but Clarkson minimized its service errors that plagued the team on Friday against Elmira and Springfield. In the final set, freshman Becca Brabec (Lemont, IL), who was named ot the All-Tournament team, had a run of 10 straight points as the Knights' server and took what was already a significant lead and pushed it to a gaudy advantage. Senior Megan Mahon (Irvine, CA) used mostly cross-court shots to account for her team-best 11 kills in 24 swings (.375 hitting percentage). Classmate Sara Artus (St. Regis Falls, NY), also named to the All-Tournament team, struck for nine kills in 21 attempts with no errors (.429 hitting percentage) to go along with a pair of aces. Senior middle hitter Nicole Edwards (Weiser, ID) and Rachel Simons (Webster, NY) had five blocks and two blocks, respectively, to continue moving up Clarkson's all-time leaderboard.

Sophomore Lani Durio (Austin, TX) collected 28 assists, three aces, three kills, and three blocks for the Knights, while sophomore Erika Chin (Katy, TX) led the team defensively with 16 digs to go along with her two aces.

"This was a special game for this senior class," noted Clarkson head coach Johan Dulfer. "They helped put Clarkson Volleyball on the map, and I’m so happy for them that they got to win their senior game and go out on a high note. We played our best at the end of the game, served cleanly, and attacked with purpose."

Though this was Clarkson's senior weekend for volleyball, the Golden Knights have two remaining home games this season as they host St. Lawrence University on October 18th and Potsdam State on October 25th.
