Junior Stephanie Sayward and senior Elena Rogers teamed up for a pair of second half goals to help St. Lawrence University's women's soccer team to a 2-2 come-from-behind tie at Plattsburgh State Saturday evening.

The Saints, now 1-2-1 on the season, trailed 2-0 at the intermission, but cut the lead in half 8:34 into the second  half when Rogers' shot was saved by Plattsburgh goalie Danielle Schmitt, but Sayward collected the rebound and put it into the net for her third of the season.

Rogers then set up Sayward for the ty8ing goal at the 63:43 mark as Sayward's chip shot went over the goalie andinto the net to tie the game at 2-2.

"Our team played very well. The effort was excellent, the pace was high and as a whole they played together very nicely. Although we had a few bad breaks in the first half. I was very proud of how the team kept their heads up and fought back in the second half", said Saint coach Franco Bari.

Plattsburgh opened the scoring 19:05 into the game when Kristie Pageau scored her third of the season and the Cardinals made it 2-0 on a goal by Brittany Meade with 2:43 to go in the first half.

Schmitt finished with five saves for Plattsburgh, which had 13 total shot attempts while Abby van Geldern made three saves for the Saints, who had a dozen total shots. SLU had a 3-2 edge in corner kicks.

The Saints will host Nazareth Saturday in their home opener.
