Eight different members of the women's hockey team tallied goals, as the Saints offense erupted for an 8-2 win over Robert Morris on Friday afternoon in Appleton Arena. It is the first time the Saints have scored eight goals since Feb. 23, 2007 when they beat Quinnipiac 9-1, and the first time the team has done so during Head Coach Chris Wells' tenure.

Jenna Marks led the Saints with three points on the afternoon on a goal and two assists, while Alex Moore, Kayla Raniwsky, Amanda Boulier, Kennedy Marchment and Brooke Webster each finished with two points in the win.

The Saints (2-2-1) came out firing on all cylinders and we dominated in the opening frame, outshooting the Colonials (2-5-0) 16-6 through the first 20 minutes.

"We were able to get off to a quick start, which is what we were hoping for," Wells said. "Robert Morris outworked us in the second period, but we were able to get some timely goals to keep the lead."

Wells' team opened up a two-goal lead in the first period with goals by Kennedy Marchment and Jessica Hon just a minute and 11 seconds apart. Marchment scored her second of the season on a one-time shot from the bottom of the right circle that beat Robert Morris goaltender Courtney Vinet high on the glove side, with Alex Moore assisting.

Hon also bested Vinet on the glove side on a two-on-one breakout with Jacqueline Wand. Wand carried the puck into the Saints offensive zone along the right boards, drew the defender and then dished off to Fullerton, Cailf. native who was streaking down the left wing.

In the second period, Kailee Heidersbach pushed the Saints lead to 3-0 at the 7:12 mark on a quick wrister from the left circle after picking up a stretch pass from Jenna Marks. Kirsten Padalis started the play when she dug the puck out of the corner and played it ahead to Marks on the half wall. Marks fed Heidersbach in the neutral zone, and the Park Ridge, Ill. Native carried into the moved into the Robert Morris zone before snapping off her second of the year.

The Colonials buried their first of the game midway through the middle frame when Ashley Vesci cashed in a power play opportunity to cut the St. Lawrence lead to 3-1.

But just over three minutes later, Kayla Raniwsky retook the three-goal margin for the Saints with assists going to Dominique Korakianitis and Amanda Boulier. Boulier then extended the lead to 5-1 less than a minute into the third period.

The play started when Brooke Webster picked up a puck along the half wall and played it to Marchment beneath the red line, who then touched a quick pass out in front to Boulier who was crashing from the blue lin. The Saints captain one-timed a shot high glove past Vinet.

Robert Morris's Katie Fergus cut the lead to 5-2 at the 5:41 mark, but Webster, Marks and first-year Amanda McClure each tallied late third-period goals to help the Saints to the final 8-2 margin.

McClure's goal is her first collegiate point, as she took a drop pass from Marks on the point and fired a slapshot under the crossbar past netminder Jessica Dodds, replaced Vinet after the Saints sixth goal.

St. Lawrence also utilized a pair of goaltenders on Friday night, as Carmen MacDonald started the game and made 19 saves through nearly 54 minutes, before giving way to first-year Brooke Wolejko, who recorded five stops in her first collegiate action.

The teams will finish out their two-game set on Saturday afternoon with a 2 p.m. puck drop in Appleton Arena.
