Justine Reyes scored the game-winning goal 10 minutes and 42 seconds into the third period to lift the St. Lawrence University women's hockey team to a 3-2 win over Dartmouth in an ECAC Hockey contest on Friday night in Appleton Arena.

Reyes, who assisted on the Saints' first goal of the game, picked up a rebound at the right side of the net after shots by Skylar Podvey and Nadine Edney and fired it into the back of the net for her sixth goal of the season and 48th of her career to break a 2-2 tie.

St. Lawrence held a 2-0 lead in the second period, but Dartmouth's Sara McClanahan answered with two straight, tying the game five and a half minutes into the third period.

With the win, the Saints improved to 12-11-2 overall, 7-5-1 in ECAC Hockey contests and moved into sole possession of fifth place in the conference standings. Dartmouth fell to 3-16-2, 2-11-0.

"Big win for us tonight," said St. Lawrence head coach Chris Wells '92. "The team really found a way to pull it out. Dartmouth had great jump all night and had some great chances to tie it up at the end. We also had some nice chances to get two goals up, but Christine Honor made some timely saves."

The Saints dominated the first period, outshooting Dartmouth 11-1, but had little to show for it until Kayla Vespa scored her first goal of the season on her own rebound with less than two minutes to play in the frame. Edney and Reyes earned assists on the play.

Kristen Guerriero increased the lead to two goals with a power play goal seven and a half minutes into the second period. With just 10 seconds remaining on the power play, Kayla Nielsen won an offensive zone faceoff back to Guerriero, who needed just two seconds from the time the puck dropped to hammer it into the back of the net.

McClanahan scored her first of the game on a rebound off a shot by Givanna Foglia with five minutes to play in the second period, then tied the game with a wrist shot from the top of the right circle.

St. Lawrence outshot the Big Green 35-21, with Honor making 32 saves and Harrison stopping 19 shots. Both teams finished 1-for-4 on the power play.

The Saints will host Harvard on Saturday at 3 p.m.
