Dadley Ogetii finished third to lead the 26th-ranked St. Lawrence University men's cross country team to a sixth-place finish at the 42-team Inter-Regional Border Battle hosted by Rowan in Logan Township, New Jersey, on Saturday morning.
Ogetii covered the eight-kilometer course in 25 minutes, 6.5 seconds, a pace of 5:03.1 per mile. He was just 6.4 seconds behind the individual winner, Rensselaer's Sean O'Connor. His time was 5.8 seconds faster than his previous best cross country 8K.
The Saints totaled 229 points in the highly competitive meet, which featured three of the top-10 teams in the nation. Tenth-ranked Johns Hopkins won the team title with 80 points, while 13th-ranked SUNY Geneseo was second with 95. Second-ranked Rensselaer finished third with 106 points, and seventh-ranked Carnegie Mellon was fourth with 151.
James Elmour led the Saints to 11th place out of 19 teams in the open race, finishing 52nd in 27:58.1.
